Rare collection of stamps exhibited at Moldovan parliament's headquarters

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - A rare collection of stamps, envelopes and post cards, issued during 1991-2023, has been exhibited at the parliament’s headquarters.  

The exhibition titled, The stamp – symbol of the country’s sovereignty, brings to the forefront a rich post heritage of Moldova and celebrates the importance and significance of the post stamps, in the context of the World Post Day, annually marked on 9 October.   

The exhibition displays series of stamps issued during 1991-2023, envelopes, ‘’first day of issuance,’’ envelopes and post cards with fixed stamp, along with other significant postal pieces. Each element exhibited represents a story, a symbol of history which shows the evolution and diversity of postal signs of Moldova during years.   

On 23 June 1991, on the day of the first anniversary of the proclamation of Moldova’s sovereignty, the issuance of post stamps started. The first issuance introduced in the postal circuit was made up of three post stamps which show the state symbols – Coat of Arms and Flag. Since then so far, 1,300 stamps, 326 envelopes with fixed stamp, 178 post cards with fixed stamp and 682 occasional post stamps have been issued.   

The exhibition, The stamp – symbol of the country’s sovereignty, is organized by Moldova’s Post state enterprise, which marks 30 years of its foundation this year.
