Exhibition dedicated to Chisinau's archaeological heritage to be staged ahead of Moldovan capital's dedication day

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition of photos and a roundtable titled, Archaeological Heritage of Chisinau, will be inaugurated at the Museum of History of the Chisinau City on 13 October at 15:00, on the occasion of the Moldovan capital’s dedication day, within the European Heritage Days.

The event is organized by the Museum of History of the Chisinau City, under the aegis of the culture and cultural heritage department of the Chisinau city hall, in cooperation with the National Archaeological Agency.

According to the director of the museum, Valeria Suruceanu, the Chisinau city stays poorly known from the archaeological viewpoint. This is because of the overlapping of the cultural strata and stages of habitation; in this situation, the new buildings and constructions replace the old ones, making impossible an archaeological research on the ground. Nevertheless, step by step, researchers discover the past of this place.
