Four SMURD helicopter platforms inaugurated in Moldova

Chisinau, Oct. 31 /MOLDPRES/- Four landing-takeoff platforms for helicopters were inaugurated in the municipalities of Chisinau, Balti and Cahul. The platforms were built as part of the project Romania - Moldova - Improving the Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD) operating infrastructure.

All four landing-takeoff platforms are designed for EC 135 helicopters, each with an area of 15m x 15m. The platforms are equipped with a wind strip, and additionally the platform in the municipality of Cahul is also equipped with lighting equipment and special markings for day and night VFR operation.

According to IGSU, the project is financed by the EU through the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI), through the Joint Operational Program Romania-Republic of Moldova 2014-2020. The total budget of the project is over ten million euros, of which non-refundable funding through the European Neighborhood Instrument is 6,428,000 euros.
