GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS-2023 in Moldova: Synthesis of 1 November

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/ - The electoral agenda of the 1 November day included a news conference held by the president of the National Alternative Movement Party (MAN), Ion Ceban, who unveiled the administration programme on the ‘’development of a cultural capital and development of local tourism.’’

„We are set that, till 2027, Chisinau should become a recognized tourist destination at the European level and attractive for investments. Our city has a rich cultural and historical heritage. We are set to transform Chisinau into a cultural capital. We will fulfill the excellent opportunity to turn to good account the tangible and intangible heritage on diverse cultural dimensions,’’ Ion Ceban said.

Also today, the president of the Party of Change, Stefan Gligor, gave a news conference on the topic: ‘’The local elections are compromised by the electoral corruption and the organized crime. The state’s institutions prove cowardice and incompetence!’’

He asked the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to exclude from electoral race more electoral contenders for the general local elections due on 5 November.

The president of the Speranța-Nadejda (Hope) Movement of Professionals, Andrei Donica, held a news conference to demand the postponing of the local elections for the office of general mayor of the Chisinau municipality.

The Central Electoral Commission today informed that, on 5 November 2023, information of public interest would be spread and news briefings would be organized with the participation of the CEC members, according to the following schedule: 08:00; 12:00; 15:00, 19:00, 22:00. On 6 November at 15:00, journalists are invited to a news briefing, during which the preliminary official results on the holding of the general local polls will be unveiled.

The CEC decisions will be published on the webpage of the institution, www.cec.md, the section CEC Meetings, sub-section CEC Decisions.
