Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova presently makes big steps on the European integration way and your votes represent real chances for the country to become member of the European family. President Maia Sandu has conveyed a message to this effect, in the context of the holding of the general local elections on 5 November 2023.
The Moldovan president said that the power of the vote would be very big on 5 November, as Moldova will elect its mayors, district and local councilors. ‘’The fact how we will live in each settlement depends on these votes, whether we will have a good road or not, whether we have renovated kindergartens, water and sewerage, implemented local projects. It is important that we do not leave the settlements to be led by thieves. I want the next generations to have European living standards. Our common mission is to bring EU home – the Presidency, Parliament, Government, the mayors and councils should do their utmost for this. We have started imported projects in more than a half of the settlements; we have development plans which will be carried out,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The official stressed that the state’s institutions would defend the democracy in the country. ‘’During these elections, the pro-Kremlin forces want to hinder us through paid parties and votes; yet, your votes are stronger than the attempts to sell Moldova; therefore, it is important that we go to vote. On Sunday, go to vote, all those born in villages and cities; use your vote for the future of Moldova,’’ Maia Sandu noted.
The general local elections will be held on 5 November this year. As many as 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors, of whom 9,972 village (commune), town and 1,086 district/municipal councilors will be elected at the ballot.
