Moldova to benefit from international expertise in management of strategic infrastructure projects

Chisinau, 9 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from international expertise in the field of management of strategic infrastructure projects, following the opening of the country office of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Moldova. The ratification of an agreement between Moldova and UNOPS has been voted in the parliament in the second reading.  

The agreement’s goal is to open the country office of UNOPS in Moldova, based on the resolution by the UN General Assembly, as well as to establish similar conditions as for the United Nations officials on the people who provide services or activities or on the activities, properties, funds and assets of UNOPS.   

According to the authorities, the partnership of cooperation between Moldova and UNOPS will result in the ensuring of the observance of the principles of good governance and management of the regional development projects. For this, the capacities of efficient use of public and international funds will be consolidated. At the same time, the European integration process will speed up through the implementation of projects in various sectors.
