Moldovan, German officials discuss cooperation, projects

Chisinau, Nov. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian today received a delegation of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group of the German Bundestag's Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, led by Christian Democrat MP Knut Abraham, the Reintegration Policy Office has reported.

The meeting focused on the current situation in the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement, as well as the government's short- and medium-term priorities in promoting the country's reintegration policies.

The German officials sent a congratulatory message to the authorities in Chisinau on the status of a candidate country for the accession to the European Union and the perspective of the opening of the accession negotiations to the EU.

Special attention was given to development projects on both banks of the Dniester, with the Federal Republic of Germany being actively involved in this process. The officials agreed to continue making concerted efforts to attract and implement development projects in the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone.

Serebrian reiterated that the Moldovan authorities' actions are aimed at the peaceful restoration of the unique national spaces, as well as supporting the residents of the eastern districts of the country.

Attending the meeting was also Margret Uebber, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova.
