Three customs posts at Moldovan-Romanian border modernized through EU-co-financed project

Chisinau, Dec. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Three customs posts at the Moldovan-Romanian border have been modernized under an EU-co-financed project. The Customs Service management participated in a press conference organized in the context of the completion of the project- Rehabilitation and modernization of customs offices at the Romanian-Moldovan border, respectively Albița-Leușeni, Sculeni-Sculeni and Giurgiulești-Giurgiulești customs offices.
According to the Customs Service, the project implementation teams reviewed the progress made in project's implementation, as well as the ongoing infrastructure works to be completed by this December.
The Customs Service management said that despite the challenges, thanks to the joint efforts and right solutions, the project's deliverables will be achieved within the deadline, which is an important success in the perspective of expanding the Moldovan-Romanian customs collaboration through other joint projects.
Besides the goal to create best conditions for carrying out customs procedures in order to improve the ability to cross the border, under the project, twenty officials of the Customs Service benefited from training to strengthen the capacities for applying customs control techniques.
The project budget is 10 million euros, of which 6.42 million euros represents the total amount of the grant (64.28% of the project budget), and the rest represents the own contribution of the government of the Republic of Moldova and Romania.
