Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated in a festive event dedicated to the local autonomy and the local public administration employee titled, European Future – European Welfare, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state thanked the local authorities for dedication, effort and involvement in the development of the settlements from Moldova, on the occasion of the professional day marked on 1 February.
In her message, the president stressed that a European future and well-being was what each citizen of Moldova deserves.
„We want the people to feel, in the villages and cities where they live, the changes for the better which our country’s accession to the European Union brings. This means peace and better conditions for living – more funds for roads, sewerage, aqueducts, kindergartens, schools and other needs of the community. Through the European Village national programme, launched in 2022, almost 900 projects were financed in over a half of the settlements,’’ Maia Sandu said. The president also said that the European Village was the first such far-reaching programme on the development of communities, from the results of which hundreds of thousands of people already benefit.
The head of state noted that the common goal of the central and local public authorities was to transform the entire Moldova, villager after village, city after city, into a European country, where the people live in well-being and safety.
„The accession to EU is the project of our generation and to speed up the process and make it irreversible, the contribution of each of us, of each community separately is necessary,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
