Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - Romania is set to remain the principal trade partner of Moldova. I have found out that we should work more on the diversification of the portfolio of products which are sold between the two states. Romanian Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Stefan-Radu Oprea today made statements to this effect at a news conference held jointly with Deputy Prime Minister, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba.
„The things are in a very good direction. The effort to invest over 400 million euros in Moldova’s economy provided more than 10,000 jobs to Moldovan citizens. We must make a joint effort, in order to persuade as many as possible foreign investors to come with investments in this area. We today discussed also the obstacles which still exist to the commerce between the two countries, what we have done and what we still have to carry out, in order to succeed in managing the challenges, so that the foreign investors who will come to Moldova can have a friendly environment for business and investments,’’ the Bucharest official said.
Deputy PM Dumitru Alaiba said that Romania ranked first among the commercial partners of Moldova in the world, with a share of 21.31 per cent of Moldova’s overall trade. The official noted that the presence of his Romanian counterpart in Chisinau was an extra proof of the close relations and of the strategic partnership between Moldova and Romania. ‘’Romania is and will be a firm supporter of Moldova, including in our irreversible European integration. With Romania, Moldova deserves and will become part of the European family,’’ Dumitru Alaiba stressed.
According to statistics data, Romania is on the first position among the principal investors of Moldova, with a number of 1,600 enterprises registered and investments in the share capital which reached a sum of about 6.74 billion lei (333 million euros).
