Gala of Prizes of Cinema Men nominates winners in Moldova

Chisinau, 6 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Gala of Prizes of Cinema Men 2024 took place at the Palace of the Republic on 5 February. The film, Carbon, directed by Ion Bors, got the prize for the best full-length film.    

According to the jury, the movie, Carbon, was leader in terms of sales in cinematography. The dramatic comedy shows Moldova of the 1992 year, on the period of the Transnistria War.   

On this occasion, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that this was a deserved victory, as the film Carbon made a qualitative break in the present Moldovan movie. ‘’Through the original story and the novel characters, through the sincerity within which it brought to the screen a reality which still marks the fate of our country and through the courage it conveyed to other cinema men, showing that this is possible! The reward was commensurate with it – overfilled cinema halls, just as we have not seen in Moldova for decades and the boundless gratitude of the people,’’ Minister Sergiu Prodan stressed.    

The prize, The Best Film Director, was awarded to Ion Bors (Carbon film) and the prize for the best script went to Mariana Starciuc for the same movie. Tincuta Josan (Thunders film) got the prize for the best women’s part and Anatol Marzenco (Thunders movie) got the prize for best men’s part. The film, Republic of Freedom. Essay, directed by Vadim Tristan Belocur, was nominated as the best documentary. This is a satirical documentary film about the realities of the residents from the Transnistrian region. The film, I am Dorin, directed by Valeriu Andriuta, was nominated as the best short film.          

The prize, The Best Serial, went to the film, Good Managers, directed by Mircea Bobina. This is a comedy serial, with typical characters and authentic stories.
