Latest digital solutions presented at innovation fair for future agriculture in Moldova

Chisinau, Feb. 7 /MOLDPRES/- About 20 companies presented the latest digital solutions for agriculture at the innovation fair for future agriculture in Moldova, hosted by Agrotek Arena yesterday. Farmers, experts, students, teachers and digital technology companies met here.
Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) Vladimir Bolea said that agriculture cannot exist without science.
"Throughout time, mankind has accumulated knowledge that underlies modern agricultural practices. The Ministry of Agriculture is involved in all processes related to innovation and progress in agriculture. We will continue to support and promote scientific studies and research, because today's students are tomorrow's experts, researchers and specialists who will transform theoretical knowledge into practical solutions," the official said.
According to the results of the digital transformation in agriculture project, initiated in 2022, farmers requested funding for the following digital technologies: 75% expressed interest in the GPS navigator for tractors; 11% showed interest in using agricultural drones; 6% - for Internet of Things (IoT) technologies; 4% requested the installation of weather stations to obtain accurate data on weather conditions and 2% expressed interest in automating irrigation systems.
The event was organized by the Technical University of Moldova and the Agency for Development and Modernization of Agriculture (ADMA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, with the support of the Future Technologies Project, funded by USAID, Sweden and Great Britain.
