Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has come up with a message, in which she encourages the citizens to speak and preserve their mother language, on 21 February, when the International Mother Language Day is marked, the presidential press service reported.
„An inclusive society means a society which turns to good account the cultural diversity, protects the traditions of the communities and encourages the citizens to speak and preserve the mother language,’’ the head of state said.
The Moldovan president stressed that the language in which the people are born, the mother language, represents the wealth of each family – we experience the deepest emotions in it. ‘’The Romanian language in Moldova represents the bridge of dialogue between all communities,’’ the head of state noted.
Also, Maia Sandu said that, in the last year alone, over 6,500 adults had benefited from free of charge courses within the national programme on the studying of the Romanian language, launched by the government.
„The European Moldova means a country where all citizens feel free to show their cultural identity, to speak their mother language and to contribute to our common heritage,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
