News from anaesthesia, intensive therapy discussed at medical conference in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 29 February /MOLDPRES/ - The 19th edition of the Conference of resident students, physicians and young researchers in anaesthesiology and intensive therapy titled, In Memoriam Professor Valeriu Ghereg, has been held at the headquarters of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF).
The event was organized by the Department of anaesthesiology and reanimatology No 1 Valeriu Ghereg, in partnership with the Society of Anaesthesiology and Reanimatology from Moldova.
In the opening of the conference, USMF Rector Emil Ceban said that the scientific event had turned into a nice tradition, which serves as an example for other education disciplines. „The contribution of Professor Valeriu Ghereg to the development of the specialty, of the service and community of anaesthesiology and intensive therapy, of the department which bears his name with dignity is inestimable. The illustrious scientist left behind a strong and consolidated school of specialists anaesthesiologists and reanimatologists, with valuable academic and research traditions, who develop his ideas and honour his memory. The conference represents also a favourable platform for presenting the scientific results, launch innovating ideas and identifying the common interests for discussions. The international dimension of the event opens new opportunities for extending the scientific cooperation,’’ Ceban noted.
An honourable guest of the conference was Gabriel Gurman, a professor of anaesthesia and intensive therapy at the Ben-Gurion University from Israel, who gave the students 150 textbooks written by him. The books were edited with the support of the Office of the World Health Organization in Moldova.
At the conference, more resident students and physicians, as well as physicians training for doctor’s degree unveiled their scientific researches elaborated. The works were evaluated by an international jury and the winners of the current edition of the conference received money awards.
