Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - MP Sergiu Lazarencu today was appointed, under presidential decree, to the position of environment minister and was sworn in in office in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The head of state appreciated the work of minister Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov and wished success to the new minister Sergiu Lazarencu at the taking over of the mandate.
„ The environment sector is quite dear to me and is a priority field for our country. I want to remind about the national afforestation programme and to thank Mrs. Rodica Iordanov for the progress we have made together on this programme, as well as on many other important programmes in the environment field. My expectation is that we take, in continuation, consistent efforts, in order to implement this programme,’’the head of state said.
President Maia Sandu also said that another important priority was the management of waste and residual waters. ‘’A new way of collection and processing of waste is piloted is several districts and I want us to see substantial progress in this field in the next months, in the next years. The climate changes are already felt and have dramatic effects; therefore, we must do our utmost to diminish their consequences. The European integration implies also firm actions, in order to adjust the legal framework and to adjust our policies to the European Union’s standards,’’ the Moldovan president added.
