Moldova's vine-growing sector registers new records

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan vine-growing sector has managed to be adapted and to grow in the last two years, despite the global economic challenges. At the same time, in 2023, according to analyses, the sector of producing table grapes registered seven records. These things were announced and analyzed at a national forum of table grapes, held in Stauceni, Chisinau municipality, today.
Attending the event, the state secretary at the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA), Andrian Digolean, emphasized the importance of the cooperation between the authorities, research institutions and the private sector, in order to support the sector’s growth and diversification. At the same time, the official referred to the subsidies provided on behalf of the state for the development of the branch.
“We provide 45,000 lei/hectare for the foundation of the table grapes plantations, 200,000 lei – for the setting and modernization of the Pergola-type support systems and 75,000 lei – for the Gable support system. So, the assistance from the national budget is of 245,000 lei for one plantation and support. There are also subsidies for the anti-hail and anti-rain systems, ant-freezing equipment, irrigations and drones, covering 50 per cent of the costs. Subsidies of 25-35 per cent per one unit are provided for agricultural machines and equipment,’’ Digolean noted.
Following a decision by the European Parliament, the Moldovan exporters of grapes can access the EU market without tariff and quantity restrictions.
