Chisinau, April 11 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean's visit to Lithuania began at the Romanian language and culture association Dacia, which gathers members of the diaspora from Moldova and Romania. Today, the association celebrates 35 years of founding, during which our compatriots have continued to promote Moldovan culture and traditions in Vilnius. On this occasion, Recean gave a tricolour as a gift, the government's communication department has reported.
He spoke about our country's European path and the authorities' commitment to implement reforms that will modernise the Republic of Moldova following the model of European Union member states. The prime minister stressed that the focus is on the country's economic development, attracting investments and reforming justice, noting that in order to improve the quality of life of people across the country, the government is building modern villages and towns.
"Another priority is to maintain as productive a dialogue as possible with the diaspora and involve them in the transformation of the country. I urge you to help us to anchor the Republic of Moldova definitively in the great family of the Union", he said.
At present, the Dacia Association has about 70 members who, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova, organise annual events on the occasion of national holidays and thematic exhibitions. The Association also actively cooperates with the Diaspora Relations Office and maintains a constant dialogue with students from the Republic of Moldova arriving in Lithuania under the Erasmus and Erasmus+ programmes.
