Chisinau, May 17 /MOLDPRES/- Vyshyvanka Day was marked at an event attended by dozens of Moldovan and Ukrainian citizens. Speaker Igor Grosu attended the event and congratulated the Ukrainian people on this unique tradition, which is a symbol of unity, values and the bond between generations.
"This holiday is a symbol of Ukrainian identity and unity. The Ukrainian people proved that when you fight for family, nation and country nothing is impossible. Together with these symbols of our identity, we will be part of the big family of the European Union", Grosu said.
He also said that Moldova will continue to support Ukraine in the context of the war initiated by the Russian Federation. "We assure you of our full respect and we are glad that we could be there to help children, mothers and wives who have taken refuge in our country. We will continue to stand by them", he said.
World Vyshyvanka Day has been marked in Moldova since 2011 on the third Thursday of May. Thus, the community of ethnic Ukrainians from all over the world promotes Ukrainian culture by wearing traditional clothes.
