8th EU - Moldova Association Council to be held in Brussels

Chisinau, May 18 /MOLDPRES/- The eighth meeting of the EU - Moldova Association Council will take place in Brussels on May 21. The Chisinau delegation will be led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.
The meeting will be co-chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell and Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, with the participation of European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.
According to the European Integration Bureau, the evolution of relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union will be discussed in Brussels via the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, as well as the preparation for the formal opening of accession negotiations.
The agenda of the meeting includes discussions on political dialogue and reforms, justice, freedom and security, cooperation and convergence in the field of foreign and security policy, as well as economic and sectoral cooperation, with energy and trade being the main focus.
At the same time, two important documents for our country will be signed at the Association Council: Moldova-EU Security and Defence Partnership and Agreement on Moldova's participation in the Employment and Social Innovation Programme (EaSI), which will allow access to funds for the implementation of social policies.
