Anti-drug policies discussed at international conference in Parliament

Chisinau, July 3 /MOLDPRES/- Reducing drug consumption, illicit drug trafficking and Moldovan authorities' efforts to improve legislation in the field were discussed at an international conference on Drug policies in the Republic of Moldova.
The event was held on the platform of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Protection, Health and Family in the context of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, and brought together MPs, representatives of state institutions, national and international experts, external partners and representatives of civil society.
The event aimed at analyzing the anti-drug policies implemented in Moldova and the strategies to improve them via the national, European and international commitments.
The current situation in the Republic of Moldova, the efforts of the authorities to harmonize anti-drug policies in the preparation for EU accession were presented at the conference. The event also included discussions on the impact of the current drug legislation and the reforms that need to be implemented in this area.
Discussions on drug policies will continue in the coming period on the National Anti-Drug Commission platform.
