Cereal imports to be provisionally licensed

Chisinau, July 4 /MOLDPRES/- Lawmakers adopted today in two readings a draft law on provisional licensing of imports of cereal and oilseed crops.
The amendments to the law on the regulation by authorization of entrepreneurial activity propose that the import of cereal and oilseed crops, such as wheat, corn, sunflowers, other than those intended for sowing will be allowed only on the basis of the import license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. This provision will be valid until December 31, 2024. At the proposal of the relevant ministry, this period may be extended by a maximum of 12 months.
The application for the issuance of the import license may be submitted by legal entities or private people engaged in the following economic activities: animal husbandry; manufacture of oils and fats; manufacture of milling products; manufacture of preparations for the feeding of farm animals. The import license will be issued free of charge.
The draft law on provisional licensing of import of cereal and oilseed crops will enter into force upon the publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
