Chisinau, July 11 /MOLDPRES/- Thirteen police officers and carabineers were deployed today to ensure public order and security during Paris Olympics. Attending the event were President Maia Sandu, Interior Minister Adrian Efros and French Ambassador to Chisinau Graham Paul.

Maia Sandu wished success to the employees deployed on mission. The official emphasized that the Olympic Games have always been about peace, friendship and unity among nations.

"Today more than ever we need these things. The upcoming mission is a great success for you, and for all of us, because this invitation from France comes to recognize your professionalism, the capacity of our institutions and is a concrete example of how the Republic of Moldova participates in maintaining peace, ensuring security on the continent not only here at home. The mission is also proof of the very good relations we have with the French Republic. I would like to wish France every success in the smooth organization and conduct of this remarkable sporting event. I wish the best of luck to our athletes. We are looking forward to welcoming you home", said Maia Sandu.

Adrian Efros noted that some of the best employees have been deployed on the mission, who will work to ensure that Paris Olympics will be held in peace and tranquility.

Graham Paul said that the security and safety of the Olympic Games is a top priority for the French authorities. "That is why France has requested support from partners, including the Republic of Moldova. Thanks to this support, France will be able to host the Olympic Games in the best possible conditions. I am sure that this mission will strengthen bilateral cooperation. On behalf of myself and the French Government, I would like to thank the Moldovan authorities and express our deep gratitude for this friendly support, which is also a gesture of solidarity", the official said.

The Olympic Games in Paris will be held on July 26 - August 11, 2024.
