GOVERNMENT EDIFIES // Over 10,000 residents from seven districts of north Moldova district to benefit from drinking water from Dniester river

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - The North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord), the Soroca district council and the mayoralties of the communes Vasilcau, Varancau, Volovita and Racovat on 18 July signed a contract on financing for the implementation of a project on construction of water supply systems in seven settlements of the northern Soroca district, with financing from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).
The project, Construction of water supply systems in seven settlements in the Soroca district, sees that, till 2025, over 89 km of internal networks of distribution of water from the Dniester river should be constructed in the villages of Alexandru cel Bun, Vasilcau, Racovat, Slobozia-Cremene, Slobozia-Varancau, Inundeni and Ruslanovca, where over 10,000 citizens live.
The overall value of the new project, under the financing contract, is of about 67 million lei (3.35 million euros), of which over 60 million lei is requested from FNDRL and the rest – partners’ contribution. ‘’On the next period, ADR Nord will initiate and will carry out procedures of public procurements within the project,’’ the Agency noted.
The new project represents a continuation of the project, Water – foremost need for a qualitative living in the North Development Region, implemented by ADR Nord on the period July 2022 – December 2023. Under this project, the access of beneficiary settlements to water was ensured, through the construction of a water main with a length of 30.5 km, connected to the Soroca-Balti aqueduct, six water reservoirs and nine water towers. The total value of this project was 32.8 million lei, of which 29.27 million lei – allocated by FNDRL and 3.55 million lei is the contribution of the Soroca District Council.
The project, Construction of water supply systems in seven settlements in the Soroca district, was included in the Single Programme Document for the 2022-2024 years, approved under the Government Decision No 23 from 12 January 2022. The project is to be implemented by ADR Nord, according to the decision by the National Council of Coordination of the Regional and Local Development No 11 from 21 June 2024 and the annual plan on implementation of the National Regional Development Strategy (2022-2028), in coordination with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry, from sources of the National Fund for Regional and Local Development and the partners’ financial contribution.
