Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted the draft decision on the end of the 2024 spring session.
On this occasion, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu gave a speech from the parliament’s rostrum. The official said that this parliamentary session had been held on a historical period, marking the opening of the negotiations on accession to the European Union, with the 2024 year being a year of the country’s success on this dimension.
„Everything we have done on this period was for the well-being of the people, for them to feel that the things are changing in our country; that our villages and cities are changing. And these changes can really take place in the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union.’’ The official noted.
The speaker said that, on the last period, big steps had been made on the European integration way and ‘’to make the process irreversible, it is necessary that we show both to our citizens and our partners that the European path is the choice of the people, not only of the governance.’’ In the context, Igor Grosu urged the Moldovan citizens to confirm this at the constitutional referendum due on 20 October. ‘’We everybody want to see rule of law state in Moldova, with strong institutions, which are to respect the citizens, a functional market economy, so that everybody has opportunities at home and certainly, so that we are able to provide more certainty,’’ the parliament speaker said.
Igor Grosu made a review of the legislative acts considered and approved in parliament in the 20214 spring session. He highlighted more success achieved in the reform of the legal system, foreign policy, energy sector, agriculture, economy, social protection, health, education, etc.
Also, Grosu read a string of family businesses which he had visited since the beginning of this year, noting that many of these people returned home from Europe, firmly resolute to make European living at the native place as well. ‘’We should work together for our European integration way, as only the European integration will help us preserve the peace and freedom in continuation. It will help us transform the entire Moldova, village after village, city after city, into a European country, where the people live in well-being and safety,’’ the official noted.
The parliament speaker thanked the lawmakers for the work carried out and the meeting ended with the honouring of the National Anthem, as well as the Anthem of the European Union, sung by the Hasnas Brass Band from the village Hasnasenii Mari, Drochia district.
The parliament holds two ordinary sessions per year. The spring session starts in February and cannot exceed the end of July. The autumn session starts in September and cannot exceed the end of December.
