Former PPCD leader sentenced to six years in prison

Chisinau, Aug 2 /MOLDPRES/- Former leader of the Christian Democratic People's Party (PPCD) Iurie Rosca was sentenced today to six years in prison, with execution, for influence peddling.

The decision was handed down by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court, Buiucani district. The sentence will be served in a semi-closed penitentiary.

Iurie Rosca pleaded not guilty.

The sentence can be appealed within 15 days to the Court of Appeal.

Iurie Rosca was investigated for influence peddling. The case was initiated in 2017 based on a denunciation signed by businessman Alexei Damaschin.

According to prosecutors, Iurie Rosca allegedly asked him for €1 million to help him win a civil case in the Supreme Court of Justice.
