Plaiul Codrilor Local Action Group becoming increasingly attractive for tourism sector

Chisinau, Aug 3 /MOLDPRES/- Several guides from the Republic of Moldova took part in a familiarization tour of some tourist attractions of the Local Action Group (LAG) Plaiul Codrilor. The guides got acquainted with the special exhibits such as the bride's dowry and the carpet of longing at Casa Mare Museum and made pies at Vatra Dumeștilor Complex in Vorniceni.

The activity is implemented under LEADER approach for rural prosperity in Moldova project, funded by USAID and Polish Assistance and implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova. The project contributes to the rural development not only by harnessing local potential, but also by promoting it, providing support in the creation of Destination Management Organizations, such as those in Plaiul Codrilor and Lunca Prutului.

Plaiul Codrilor LAG is formed by various local actors, representatives of the public, associative and entrepreneurial sector from the territory of 13 territorial-administrative units such as Dolna, Micleușeni, Lozova, Vorniceni, Ciorești, Pârjolteni, Ciutești, Seliște, Vânători, Bălănești, Milești, Boldurești and Brătuleni - in accordance with the requirements of the methodology for the constitution of LAGs and the criteria of the LEADER Program. The current composition was achieved in the period 2021-2022, when, following several meetings, discussions and workshops, the process of territorial enlargement of the LAG by more than 100% was initiated and carried out.

The initial partnership, established in 2018 as a result of the working process carried out in 2017- 2018, consisted of active stakeholders from the localities of Dolna, Micleușeni, Lozova and Vorniceni (Straseni district). The expansion started from the initiative of the representatives of the LAG's governing bodies, as there were cooperation and friendship links especially between neighboring LPAs, and, respectively, the first discussions about a potential involvement of several city halls in the activity of the LAG Plaiul Codrilor started.
