Organization of 15th anniversary of Meeting of High-Ranking Officials for Prague Process discussed at Moldova's Interior Ministry

Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/ - The organization of the 15th anniversary of the Meeting of the High-Ranking Officials for the Prague Process, which is to take place in Chisinau on 242-25 September 2024, today was discussed at a meeting with the participation of the state secretary of the Interior Ministry (MAI), Mariana Lucreteanu, and Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu.
At the discussions, the MAI official confirmed Moldova’s firm commitment to continue the implementation of the EU acquis and enhance its institutional capacities, in order to join the European Union. Also, Lucreteanu emphasized the importance of the support provided by the European institutions for the initiatives which regard the consolidation of security, development of infrastructure and improvement of the living conditions in Moldova.
At the same time, the participants in the meeting were informed about the new draft law on the admission, stay and supervision of foreigners in Moldova, which is under elaboration and which is aimed at adjusting the national legislation to the European one.
As for the organization of the 15th anniversary of the Meeting of the High-Ranking Officials for the Prague Process, which will bring together high-ranking decision-makers and representatives of partner organizations, the officials discussed the importance of this event in establishing the principal developments in the migration policy nationally and regionally since the creation of the Prague Process in 2009. At the event, the participating states will reflect on the role of the Prague Process, the operational challenges they face and priorities for continuing the enforcement of the action plan for the period 2023-2027.
Ambassador Cristian-Leon Turcanu appreciated the efforts made by Moldova in the organization of this event of regional importance and stressed Romania’s openness for continuing the close cooperation in this field.
