Artillery shell detected in Moldova's border area

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - An artillery shell has been detected by a farmer in the border area in the neighbourhood of the settlements Tocuz-Novosiolovca. The man immediately called the 112 Service.

According to the Border Police, the case took place on 1 September morning. Teams of the Causeni Police Inspectorate and Tocuz Border Police Sector intervened on the spot.

„The area was isolated and the people present nearby were evacuated. Sappers’ intervention was demanded, in order to take over and neutralize the shell, which was detonated by the Durlesti Battalion of Sappers,’’ the Border Police said.

In July 2024, National Army’s sappers liquidated 45 explosive objects and 500 cartridges all over Moldova.

In January-July this year, military sappers fulfilled 86 demining missions, in the wake of which 135 explosive objects of various types and 505 cartridges were destroyed.
