Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin and Polish PM Donald Tusk, at a today’s meeting, discussed the principal priority of Moldova’s government – the European integration. Another important subject deals with the turning to good account of the bilateral commercial and economic potential and regional development projects, which we are set to carry out along with our Polish friends.  Prime Minister Dorin Recean today made statements to this effect at a news conference following the meeting with his Polish counterpart, on a visit to Chisinau.

„Poland is an example worth being followed, as it edified an excellent capacity of absorption of European funds in the accession process. A symbolical moment in the context is that, this year, Poland marks two decades of its EU membership. A road which it covered with much resoluteness, with much courage and determination to edify a prosperous life at home,’’ Recean said.

According to the Moldovan PM, Moldova had more chanced which it, unfortunately, did not turn to account. Yet, now we are resolute not to lose the opportunity to achieve our national goal and till 2030, to efficiently edify and to be ready to be on a level with the European Union member states. ‘’We learn from our Polish friends how to negotiate smartly in our process of accession, or the support of Poland is essential in this respect. And I thank Prime Minister Tusk for the constant support,’’ Dorin Recean also said.

The Moldovan prime minister referred also to the fact that, next year, Poland would chair the EU Council. ‘’In the context of the future presidency of the European Union’s Council by Poland in 2025, we wish you good success, as this is an important, complex role, sometimes difficult and at the same time, we rely on the continuous support of Poland,’’ the official stressed.

„We are in the full process of reformation and transformation of Moldova; we consolidate the institutions and build a strong economy, so that each citizen of our country enjoys all benefits of the European Union, lives in peace, in well-being, in a developed society, without corruption and where all rights should be observed. Moldova shares the same values and priorities as the member states of the Three Seas Initiative. We are resolute to efficiently get involved in the dialogues hosted by Poland in 2025, as well as in all programmes carried out under the aegis of this initiative. And this is in the confidence that this participation will speed up the regional development. At the same time, I reconfirmed our support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,’’ Dorin Recean said.

At the same time, in the economic context of the today’s discussions with Donald Tusk, the Moldovan PM stressed the need to extend the Polish investments in Moldova. ‘’Time is ripe for is to increase the commercial exchanges, to extend the access of Moldovan products to the European market. In 2023, Poland became the second sales market for the Moldovan wine and we found out that there is an equally high potential for other products of Moldova.’’ Recean noted.

„We firmly appreciate Poland’s support for the course of Moldova’s sustainable development. The recognition of our efforts through the Joint Declaration adopted today strengthens our determination to continue the road to the European Union – a united, peaceful community and with prosperous people,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean added.

Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk is on a visit to Moldova. The Polish official will give a speech at a festive meeting of Moldova’s parliament. Also, the Polish PM will have meetings with President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
