New Representative of Office of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Moldova presents copies of accreditation letters

Chisinau, 18 September /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting with new Representative of the Office of the United Nations Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Moldova, Anne-Marie Deutschlander, who presented the copies of the letters of accreditation.   

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s (MAE) press service, the two officials highlighted the solidarity and commitment of Moldova in ensuring the protection of refugees in the country, including the challenges concerning the providing of as useful as possible social services to them.   

The Moldovan diplomacy head referred to the efforts made by the authorities for managing the support provided to the refugees from Ukraine. Popsoi said the efforts had been marked by humanitarian assistance, facilitating the access to education, employment, access to health service, etc.    

For her part, the UNHCR Representative expressed the openness of the UN Refugee Agency to back Moldova’s government in consolidation of the mechanisms of social protection of citizens and successful management of challenges, in line with the cabinet’s priorities in the European integration process field.    

The deputy PM welcomed the UNHCR country representative and wished her success in the exercising of the highly responsible mandate in Moldova.
