Chisinau, Sep 20 /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) notes that in the next period a recovery in fuel prices could be witnessed, after 10 consecutive weeks of cheap petrol and diesel. This is due to the recovery trend in both Platts quotations and Moldovan leu/dollar exchange rate, factors that have led to fuel price cuts in recent months.
As a result, after a cumulative drop in COR 95 petrol of 3.04 lei per liter and in standard diesel of 2.91 lei per liter, this week the petrol price recovered 0.04 lei, while diesel is still being sold at the lowest price in the last 16 months.
"After 10 consecutive weeks in which the fuel market in the Republic of Moldova was strongly marked by low pump prices, due to the decreasing Platts quotations and the increasing appreciation of the national currency against the US dollar, ANRE is currently witnessing a slight recovery in both Platts quotations and the exchange rate Moldovan leu/US dollar. Analyzing possible further developments, the Agency notes that this fact could determine in the next period a direction of price recovery," ANRE said.
Under the circumstances, for the next three days, ANRE has announced a maximum price for COR 95 petrol of 22.36 lei per liter, up by 0.07 lei. At the same time, diesel will be sold for a maximum of 19.06 lei per liter, the price being similar to the one announced for yesterday.
