Presidential Elections // Results after processing over 97% of reports: Maia Sandu and Alexandr Stoianoglo to face off in runoff election

Chișinău, Oct 21 /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission has processed over 1.5 million votes in the presidential elections. About 41.89% of citizens voted for Action and Solidarity Party candidate Maia Sandu, while 26.30% voted for Socialist Party candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo. Therefore, runoff election will take place in the Republic of Moldova.
A total of 1,559,452 voters participated in the election, or 51.61% of the electorate, according to data published by the Central Electoral Commission after the polls closed.
Under the law, if none of the candidates for the position of President of the Republic of Moldova receives at least half of the votes, runoff election is organized with the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round.
