USAID announced new grant program for agricultural exporters

Chisinau, Dec. 6 /MOLDPRES/- USAID has announced a new grant program worth 3.5 million lei for exporters of grapes, fruits, vegetables and honey, offered through the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity in Moldova. Applications will be submitted until January 31, 2025.
"Yesterday, December 5, during the Business of Fruits Conference in the Republic of Moldova, we were glad to see our partners from the agricultural sector. Our partnerships contribute to increasing the resilience and competitiveness of the sector, expanding the geography of exports and economic growth of the Republic of Moldova. USAID's Acting Chief of Mission Zeinah Salahi announced a new 3.5 million lei grant program for exporters of grapes, fruits, vegetables and honey," the source explains.
The support program aims to enhance the export potential of high-value agricultural products and ensure sustainable growth through synergies along the supply chain.
Potential activities under this grant call may include, but are not limited to: investments in quality control equipment, post-harvest modernization, automation and digitalization; investments in improving production processes to improve the quality of the final product; investments in skills development, marketing and new products.
Applications are due by January 31, 2025, 17:00.
It is a USAID project worth about 50 million dollars, which aims to contribute to the sustainable and comprehensive restoration of the country. The project supports value-added agriculture, which includes the horticulture, beekeeping and organic farming sectors; the wine industry and the tourism sector, helping to increase the competitiveness of these sectors at home and abroad, create new jobs and reduce the exodus of labor from Moldova. To develop sustainable models with a demonstration effect, the project will launch a grant fund worth 13 million dollars.
