Chisinau, July 3. /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau must strive to become a European city. Former deputy mayor of Chisinau Victor Chironda made the statement today. He was announced as a candidate of the DA Platform for the local elections in Chisinau.
Chironda said he intends to reform the capital city hall. "I dedicated my professional activity to this city and I have the necessary experience. As deputy mayor I have carried out important projects and I aim to prove that the city can develop and become comfortable for citizens. I want to bring the city to a new level of development. Thanks to the DA Platform for openness and support. Without a European Chisinau, a European country will not be possible," he said.
For his part, DA Platform leader Dinu Plîngău said that the decision on the candidate for the local elections in Chisinau was taken following discussions with citizens and pro-European parties. "We decided to choose a candidate from outside the formation, with a real chance of winning the election. We will come with realistic electoral promises, long-term strategies and a plan to modernize the capital", Plîngău said.
Chironda was deputy mayor of the capital responsible for urban planning and urban mobility. He is an expert in sustainable urban development. Chironda ran for the headship of the capital in the general local elections of 20 October 2019 and became a municipal councillor.
The next local elections in Chisinau should take place this autumn given that the last election was held in October 2019 and the mandate of local representatives is four years. Following the 2019 local elections, Ion Ceban was elected mayor of Chisinau.
Previously, the Action and Solidarity Party announced that MP Lilian Carp is the party's candidate for the local elections in Chisinau.
