Moldovan president discusses with Ukrainian head of state in Greece

Chisinau, 22 August /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has had a meeting with her Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy during her working visit to Greece. The officials referred to the transit of Ukrainian cereals across Moldova, the latest developments on the front and the European integration way, the presidential press service has reported.
„This week, when Moldova and Ukraine mark the Independence Day, we discussed about how important the peace and freedom are for our countries. Despite the dramatic regional situation, both countries carry out complicated reforms and make concrete steps due to speed up the starting of negotiations on accession to EU,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
Also, the Moldovan president and her Kiev counterpart talked about the third Summit of the Crimea Platform at the level of the heads of state and government, which will be held on 23 August. Prime Minister Dorin Recean will represent Moldova at this international event.
„Moldova today enjoys peace due to the courage of the Ukrainian nation. Moldova stands with Ukraine, with the Ukrainians who fight to defend their motherland and decide their own future,’’ the head of state said.
