Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ - The government today afternoon denied statements by the Moldovan capital’s mayor, according to which the concert organized on the Independence Day would have generated big spending and had a few spectators.
A press release issued by the spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, reads that the Culture Ministry will systematize the information on the costs of the artistic schedule occasioned by the Independence Day and will make them public. ‘’Unlike Mr. mayor, who reported the concerts from abroad following a public pressure on behalf of journalists, with some requests dating back from early last July. The mayor entered the electoral fever and counts the spectators at concerts. I hope that he counted tens of thousands of fellow countrymen who watched the live broadcastings or hundreds of citizens who discussed with officials on the square behind the government building,’’ Daniel Voda wrote.
The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, today said that a lot of money had been spent at the events organized by the authorities on 27 August, but there were a few spectators.
„It seems that there were more people at Chisinau’s Days organized in Vienna, Barcelona and Milan than at the yesterday holiday on the Great National Assembly Square. But we do not count people, as they are our citizens both there and here,’’ Ceban added.
