Moldovan cabinet approves amendments to list of travel documents accepted for crossing state border

Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved amendments to the list of travel documents accepted for the crossing by foreigners of Moldova’s state border.

Under the document, the temporary passport, which is to be accepted for crossing Moldova’s state border, is added to the list of travel documents issued by the Swiss Confederation, Italy, Lithuania and Germany. At the same time, the emergency passport is added to the list of travel documents for Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland and Slovakia.    

The Interior Ministry informed that the general goal of this draft was to ensure the observance of the fundamental rights to the free movement of people, having at the basis the issuance by some states of new-type travel documents. Another reason which justifies the need of the amendments is the practice from the border checkpoints, which show the necessity of the normative intervention in relation to the citizens of the states who are exonerated from the compulsoriness to hold a visa at the entrance, exit and transiting of the territory of Moldova.
