As of today heatwave red alert comes into force

Chisinau, July 12 /MOLDPRES/-  Starting today until 17 July, the red heatwave code is in force. Specialists urge people to avoid being in the sun and recommend employers to provide their employees and customers with water.

Doctors advise people to avoid sun exposure between 11.00 and 18.00. 

Outdoor physical activities that require a lot of energy (sport, gardening) are also not welcome in hot weather. Mothers with young children are advised to avoid walking in the afternoon.

Experts reiterate that dehydration reduces the body's ability to fight the heat. For this reason, people should drink at least two liters of water a day, in portions, every half hour. Fresh fruit and vegetables and yogurt are also recommended. Alcohol is prohibited as it increases dehydration.

The government also came up with recommendations for institutions/organizations: provide water for employees and clients. 

The Defense Ministry has announced that it will change the training schedule for the military. Early education institutions have also made changes in the program for little ones and offer them more liquids and fruits.

In the context of high temperatures, the relevant institutions have issued warnings and restrictions. Heavy goods vehicles will not be allowed on the roads during the day, while firefighters are warning farmers and people to avoid burning waste.
