Chisinau, Aug 1 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan government will benefit from UNDP support in the implementation of local public administration reform in the context of the 2023-2030 Public Administration Reform Strategy.
This will be possible after Government Secretary General Artur Mija and UNDP Resident Representative to Moldova Daniela Gasparikova signed an agreement to initiate a broad project to support the reform implementation.
UNDP will support the launch and implementation of the process of voluntary amalgamation of administrative-territorial units, which will contribute to more efficient and accessible public service delivery and sustainable local development in the amalgamated communities.
Support will also be provided to the development of other related policies, such as financial decentralization, facilitating monitoring and periodic evaluation of the implementation of the local public administration reform.
The Parliament adopted last summer the draft law on voluntary amalgamation of administrative-territorial units. The document aims to create the necessary regulatory framework for the voluntary amalgamation of first level administrative-territorial units in order to strengthen the administrative capacities of local public authorities and to provide quality and accessible public services to the population.
