FAO reconfirmed support for Moldova in coming years

Chisinau, July 4. /MOLDPRES/- At the 43rd Session of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Conference, held in Rome (Italy) on 1-7 July, Qu Dongyu was re-elected for a second term as Director-General of FAO. Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea discussed with FAO head about further cooperation with the Republic of Moldova.
Vladimir Bolea appreciated FAO's contribution to the creation and organization of the Mentoring Platform in Agriculture, as well as the Investment Conference in the field, planned for this October, in Chisinau.
"We are grateful for the joint achievements in recent years, aimed at supporting the agricultural sector through expertise and external assistance projects. We want to deepen the collaboration, in accordance with the ministry's priorities and with Moldova's commitments as a candidate state for the EU. On behalf of the Government, I am launching the proposal that next spring, the FAO Regional Conference for Europe will take place in Chisinau", said Bolea.
In the next two years, the new FAO priorities in our country are: supporting the processing sector and developing the value chain; development of rural extension services in agriculture.
FAO opened the Office in Moldova in 2014, being the strategic partner for the development of the agri-food sector through which the capacities of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Industry and other important actors of the sector are strengthened.
