General Assembly of Prosecutors postponed in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ - The today’s General Assembly of Prosecutors has been postponed, after 258 prosecutors voted for the adjourning of the election of the members in the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP).
The subject of the new CSP members’ election was discussed during half of hour and more solutions were suggested; yet, the prosecutors ruled to postpone the Assembly following the voting.
As many as 466 prosecutors out of those 590 ones holding positions of prosecutor today participated in the General Assembly of Prosecutors. The prosecutors elected their president and secretary of the Assembly and heard the report of the CSP leadership. Attending the meeting was also Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.
Seventeen candidates have registered for the contest for holding the offices of members in the main body of prosecutors’ self-management – Superior Council of Prosecutors. They were subjected to extraordinary evaluation and some of them did not pass it and appealed the commission’s decisions in court.
