Moldova's National Public health Agency says 3,144 cases of COVID-19 recorded in last September

Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 3,144 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in last September, which is about six-fold more against August 2023 and four-fold less against September 2022.    

According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), 839 COVID-19 cases were registered in the last week. At the same time, three cases of death were recorded in last September, with the death rate being of 0.1 deaths per 100,000 residents, which is three-fold more against August 2023.   

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), sublines of the Omicron variants circulate in the European region, including the re-combined variants EG 5.1.3, EG 5.1.1 and EG 5.1.     

ANSP specialists warn that COVID has not disappeared and recommends the observance of the principal protection measures for the citizens’ health and safety. Among them, there are: preserving the social distance, avoiding the crowded places; observance of the rules of hand’ hygiene and respiratory hygiene; observance of the sanitary measures at the place of work, with airing of the closed spaces, wearing of masks in medical institutions and appealing to the family physician upon the appearance of the first symptoms of COVID-19 infection. ANSP reiterates that the vaccination against COVID-19 stays the most efficient way of avoiding serious cases of disease and death.
