Foreign minister: We know we can rely on Canada, so as to increase resilience of Moldovan institutions

Chisinau, Jan 30. /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The officials discussed the positive evolution of bilateral relations, the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the significant progress in the implementation of the reform agenda. They also discussed the Canadian government's support for the economic development of the Republic of Moldova and increasing the resilience of the defense and justice sector.

"I thanked the minister and the Canadian authorities for the implementation of a rigorous regime of international sanctions against individuals and legal entities, which undermine the rule of law and the security of the Republic of Moldova.

Together with my Canadian counterpart, we agreed to advance the dialogue on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement in the social protection. Moldova has a large community of citizens settled in Canada.

At the end, I thanked the minister for the support joining the European Union, and the minister assured us of all the support in this regard," said Popșoi.
