Moldovan president has meeting with European Chief Prosecutor

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met European Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kövesi. The two officials discussed the importance of combating corruption and the need of an independent and strong justice system, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state stressed that, in the process of accession to the European Union, the close cooperation between the law-enforcement institutions of Moldova and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office was essential.

„Moldova determined to reform the justice and to adjust the national legislation to the European standards. We will carry this process through, no matter the obstacles put, in order to make sure that the law is law for everybody in Moldova,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
